Sales Tax for new Sports Complex Work Group is Meeting Monthly

The first meeting of the Rochester Sports and Recreation Center Community Working Group was held on Tuesday, March 28th. Lead by the consultants from ISG Inc, LSE Architects and Sports Facilities Companies as well as City staff - the initial meeting went very wekk with seemingly everyone in agreement of the project need and excited to participate with the planning.

The eight organizations to which we are reaching out to be a part of the Community Working Group include:

1. Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA)
2. Inclusion FRWD
3. Mayo Clinic
4. Olmsted County
5. Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce
6. Rochester Sports Foundation
7. Rochester Public Schools
8. Sports Mentorship Academy

The next meeting is scheduled for April and here is what will be reviewed and worked on by the group:

High-level agenda (detailed agenda to follow):

• Update on Gaps Analysis and Community feedback
• Review design methodology
• Design Charette

Context for the overall project effort around this meeting:

• The team will have had a chance to review results of Survey #1
• Draft Gaps Analysis will be wrapping up within about 1 week
• Preliminary Design will have just kicked off within the past week (looking for your ideas in the design charette)!
• Community Open House #1 is still a couple weeks away
• Clarity developing on the larger sales tax extension effort at the State Legislature?
