Midwest Sports Complex Growth Information

in recent years many Midwest cities have invested in new sports complexes to increase quality of life for their citizens and also hosted local and regional events and competitions. Here is a list of some of them:   

*  Woodside Sports Complex (Mauston WI): The 245 acres consists of 8 synthetic turf baseball/softball fields and a full concession/retail area.   

*  Dells Sports Complex (Mauston WI): Six synthetic turf multi-purpose fields, four synthetic turf baseball/softball fields, two grass/sod fields & six batting cages.

*  Dells Dome (Mauston WI): A  90,000 square foot air facility hosts Volleyball, Wresting, Cheer/Dance, Basketball, Gymnastics, & more.

*  ISG Field (Mankato MN): Home of the Northwoods League Moondogs was renovated in 2018

*  Schwan's Regional Sports Complex (Marshall MN): Complex features four ball fields, concessions, restrooms, and a storage facility.

*  Fargo Sports Complex (Fargo ND): 1 Full Size Indoor Soccer Turf Field, 4 Full Size Basketball Courts, Indoor Walking Track, Multipurpose Community Space on 100-acre site

*  Sanford Sports Complex (Sioux Falls SD): 1) 18 outdoor turf fields with nearly 1.7 million square feet of turf  over the 173-acre complex. 2) Pentagon - 160,000 Square Feet: Seating capacity of 3,250 in Heritage Court; Outer Courts: 6 high school length floors: 9 high school and college length. 3) Scheels Ice Plex - 100,000 sq. ft. building using 11 acres at the north end of the 62-acre Sanford Sports Complex. The facility has three ice rinks, 12 locker rooms, a figure skating clubhouse, and many accessory spaces. Main rink seats 1000. 4) Fieldhouse - 62,000 square feet of field turf perfect for indoor sports practice, parties, corporate events and private or league events. Rent the Field Turf as one or divide it into four individual fields.

*  Summit Arena (Rapid City SD): The arena will be 250,000-square feet and seats up to 11K.

*  Prairie Ridge Sports Complex (Ankeny IA): 15 Baseball fields, 9 Soccer fields, 6 Softball fields & 5 Football fields and 90 acres of turf on 124 acres.

*  TBK Bank Sports Complex (Davenport IA): Outdoor: turf fields for Baseball & Soccer, sand Volleyball courts. Indoors: Basketball courts, Soccer turf field, sand Volleyball courts, a  full service 2-story family entertainment center.

*  The Schwan Super Rink (Blaine MN): a 300,000-square-foot ice rink facility that features eight sheets of ice.

*  Xtreme Arena (Coralville IA): Xtream Arena is a multi-purpose facility. A single full-size sheet of ice supports an ECHL Hockey team, U of Iowa Women’s Club Hockey Team, youth hockey clubs and home of the University of Iowa’s Volleyball team.

* Homefield Sports Complex (Olathe KS): Eight turfed Baseball fields, over one million square feet of turf total, 150,000 SF indoor courts with state-of-the-art amenities.

*  Mid America Energy Rec Plex (West Des Moines IA): Three full-sized Basketball courts with a fourth court will feature a full-size Basketball court or two full-size Volleyball courts, three full sized Pickleball courts, 5000 SF of batting cages. The indoor field is a synthetic turf area with space for a full-size Soccer field measuring 355’ x 245’. The turf area includes scoreboards, a sound system, and divider curtains to segment the field into three separate areas. Two Ice rinks, three outdoor synthetic turfs fields, esports and convention space.

*  TD Ameritrade Park (Omaha NE): It is the home field of Creighton Univ, and the host venue of the College World Series - the NCAA DI Baseball Champ since 1950.

*  Baxter Arena (Omaha NE): The arena seats 7,898 for Hockey and features both the main arena for competition and a community ice sheet that serves as both an alternate practice facility for the hockey team as well as a venue for public skating, youth hockey, figure skating, club hockey and campus recreation.
