Chris Terry, Rochester Sports Foundation Board Chair, awarded the grants, which are from the previous year's banquet auction, to area groups needing the funds for facility enhancements and/or equipment for their organization. The 2025 Grants were awarded as follows:
Grant #1) Funds used to assist Rochester Rec Center to add locker room storage units that were required to assist Rochester Sports in being a host city for the 2026 International Hockey Junior World Championships.
Grant #2) Funds invested into safety fencing repairs at RCTC baseball fields. Completing some repairs to the current fence as well as adding dugouts the east baseball field #4. Additionally, add dugouts to this field to create another layer of security for participants and fans.
Grant #3) Assist in the funding of equipment for TK Basketball. T&K Basketball helps keep teenagers off the street while participating in positive basketball activity.
Grant #4) Funds used for equipment needs for the Rochester Shock AAU Basketball program. The Rochester Shock is a Girls' Basketball Program focused on the development of young athletes.
100% of all dollars goes into the Foundations Grant Program and it awards up to $10,000 annually. Over the 19 years the auction (named after long-time PB Sports Editor Bob Brown for his generous support of valuable sports memorabilia to the auction) has raised over $135,000 - which has gone back into the Rochester community.
